Man United disappointed by portrayal of Fernandes injury after viral Tik-Tok

Manchester United are unhappy with the way Bruno Fernandes was portrayed as having feigned injury in the dying moments of their weekend defeat to Fulham in the Premier League.

A clip posted to Fulham's official TikTok account showed Fernandes going down with an injury in the dying moments of the Old Trafford defeat before he got bac to his feet in an attempt to try and find a winning goal for his side. The short video clip was captioned, 'so glad he's okay' along with a rolling eyes emoji, suggesting the London club were not convinced about the legitimacy of his injury claim.

United are not looking to make an issue with Fulham over the 'regrettable' footage but are disappointed by the wider portrayal of the incident and mischaracterisation of their club captain.

MATCH REACTION: Ten Hag signing failed their derby audition

Sources close to the player believe many other individuals would have been substituted after the hefty knock he received in the match, while Fernandes not only carried on but fought to be involved in their FA Cup victory over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

The 29-year-old overcame a 'serious injury' to play the entirety of their midweek victory and even set up the winning goal when his free-kick was turned in by Casemiro.

Speaking after the win, Ten Hag defended his club captain and hit out at the 'pathetic' criticism he has faced. "I don’t say what it is, but it was a serious injury. I see social media criticise him. It is pathetic. He has a serious injury, he continued to play on Saturday and then also he fought to be part of this game.

“He has a very high pain threshold. Last year, he did something similar against Spurs and I think in the semi-final. It shows his leadership.

“You saw, that Forest were targeting him. There were many fouls on him. You see when he is getting the ball, they are really tight on him.”
